Schwab’s collection: No. 1 seed

Howie Schwab’s Most Cherished College Basketball Memorabilia

No. 1 seed Villanova-Georgetown 1985 NCAA Championship Game Ticket

Researcher Howie Schwab is in Houston for another NCAA Men’s Final Four. He’s been to every one since 1995. But No. 8 seed Villanova’s upset of Georgetown for the 1985 title in Lexington, Ky. was such an experience that he keeps the game ticket with him at all times. It’s his most prized college basketball collectible.

“Villanova-Georgetown was just amazing because of the storyline. Everyone thought Georgetown was going to win and Villanova just played a perfect game,” Schwab said of the classic played at Rupp Arena.

“Here’s the other ironic thing, $21.50 for a seat to the Final Four. They were second-level, second-row.”

This ticket edged Schwab’s other favorite college hoops collectibles including Nos. 4 and 3 and No. 2.

Perhaps the press pass to the Butler-UConn final tonight at Reliant Stadium might prove worth of a high seed in his collection, if not a permanent place in his wallet.
