• Congrats to Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson. On Wednesday SportNation (ESPN2 from 5 – 6 p.m. ET) unveiled the cover athlete of Madden ’13. Johnson ousted Cam Newton to grace the cover of the most popular football video game in the world. The social media world was chatting. We Storified! it all.
• Two-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Parcells often says of NFL team executives and the NFL Draft: “We can only draft what the colleges send us.” Last Tuesday, the legendary coach shared his secrets, philosophies and inside knowledge on how the NFL Draft works in a one-hour SportsCenter Special: Bill Parcells’ Draft Confidential.
• Viewers of ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage are familiar with the rapid-fire delivery of draft expert Mel Kiper Jr., but how fast does Kiper really talk? During a recent media conference call previewing ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage, Kiper answered more than 50 questions in a two-hour stretch, and at least one stenographer was having a tough time keeping up due to the sheer speed of Kiper’s speech.
• 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III is now a Washington Redskin. Last week, ESPN’s Rachel Nichols and E:60 got Griffin’s last interview before the NFL Draft.
