Beginning Thursday afternoon, the Williamsport, Pa. portion of the Little League World Series unfolds on ESPN.

In fact, ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to present all 32 games of the summer classic through the championship game Aug. 26, and Karl Ravech will provide the play-by-play for many of them. The longtime Baseball Tonight host and SportsCenter anchor makes his debut as the primary voice of coverage of the event.

In the Front & Center podcast above, Ravech discusses — among other things — his connections to Little League baseball (which were enhanced by seeing one of his sons contend for a berth in Williamsport); his preparations for learning so many new players’ names and backgrounds on short notice; his transition from studio host to play-by-play; and what’s on his ESPN bucket list in terms of dream assignments.
