Through a new multi-year extension, play-by-play commentator Brent Musburger — one of the most recognized voices in sports broadcasting, who has called numerous top events in a four-decade career — will continue to inform and entertain sports fans across ESPN platforms.
He has spent most of his time in recent years on college campuses, working the Saturday Night Football series as well as the weekly Big Monday Big 12 telecast and regular Big Ten men’s basketball games.
He has worked with some of the best and most knowledgeable analysts in the business, including 12 Saturdays every fall with the Emmy Award-winning analyst Kirk Herbstreit.
Musburger and Herbstreit have worked together since the launch of Saturday Night Football, launched in 2006 as broadcast television’s first weekly college football series. They have formed a friendship and professional respect that is evident to viewers from the season kickoff to the final play of the BCS National Championship.
Front Row recently sat down with Herbstreit to hear his thoughts on working with Musburger and his signature “You are looking live. . .” open that has come to define the meaning of “big event” for many sports fans.
