On May 18, the ESPN Veterans Group gathered for a Memorial Day Golf Tournament at Hawk’s Landing Country Club in Southington, Conn. Four teams took to the course that day competing for the first place trophy.

While the 150-member strong ESPN Veterans Group has been active for several years, the golf tournament is still relatively new. The annual event began three years ago after a proposal by several group members, including Mike Edery, senior business analyst on ESPN’s Affiliate Operations team.

“We wanted a fun, positive way to celebrate Memorial Day as a group and to remember why we joined and served,” Edery said. “In addition, we were looking to honor all those who have served and any who may have fallen.”

Following the tournament, the group gathered to enjoy a banquet dinner.

Prizes for the best golfers of the day ranged from hats to t-shirts and various golfing gear, but only one team took home the trophy for first place. Congratulations to the team of Jim Taylor, ESPN Global Security associate; David Connelly, ESPN Global Security supervisor; Harvey Russell, Electronic Systems support specialist; and Bill Derohan, senior accounting analyst.
