#TBT: Allie Sherman
Former New York Giants coach and ESPN analyst, Allie Sherman, passed away Saturday at the age of 91. His ESPN career began in 1984 as a host on Monday Night Matchup.
Sherman was involved in ESPN’s first NFL telecast in 1987 and was responsible for the remote operation of the “X/O Cam.” Sherman controlled an on-site camera (from Bristol, Conn.) and focused on the areas of the field that best displayed the teams’ strategies. The new technology provided a way for viewers to better understand and experience the game.
