AUSTIN, Texas – X Games Austin 2015 concluded yesterday, but the World of X Games never slows, with programming throughout the year – including a recap of the Best of X Games Austin 2015 compilation that airs Sunday, June 14 (2 p.m. ET, ABC).

Over the past 18 months, the World of X Games has emerged as a year-round programming approach focused on a bringing fans a wide variety of action sports- and athlete-focused content.

“We’ve evolved to the point where X Games is not a twice-a-year event brand,” says Vice President, X Games, Tim Reed. “We’re developing it into a year-round, always-on action sports and youth lifestyle brand and creating gorgeous, authentic content that’s delivered to fans across TV, digital and social platforms.”

With a weekly show on ABC and beautifully produced video, World of X Games has expanded to include everything from event previews and reviews, to multi-show original series such as “Being” and “Big Wave Hellmen,” competitions like World Surf League, Game of Skate and the upcoming Mastercraft Throwdown wakeboarding, as well as special events (like the Mammoth Flip) and collaborations with athletes and other brands like Oakley.

Along with those, an important core piece of World of X Games is the Real Series, a video-based competition where athletes in five disciplines (freestyle snowboarding, snowboard and ski back country, street skateboarding and moto) team with videographers to submit videos for judging. The series, like all X Games competitions, awards medals and prize money to the top three as selected by judges.

“Video is such a fundamental part of the history and evolution of action sports,” says Reed. “These Real Series competitions and our World of X Games programming have become really important to athletes and fans as a vital part of the overall X Games brand.”
