Behind The Scenes

The pitches that launched a $10,000 donation on SportsCenter

Here’s what happened when an afternoon tweet by a professional golfer (Zach Johnson) challenged another professional golfer (Jordan Spieth) to an MLB first pitch “pitch-off” where ESPN (SportsCenter) was asked to be the judge:

1. Twitter banter ensues.
2. SportsCenter anchors become pitch (and wardrobe) analysts.
3. Those same SportsCenter anchors then audition for the PGA Tour (sans sport jackets).
4. Spieth’s foundation enjoys an evening where it earns $10,000.

Perhaps it’s best explained through a sampling of the tweets.

THEN, knowing that turnabout is fair play, John Buccigross and John Anderson allowed the pros to critique their swings. (The Johns are not exactly hack golfers themselves, as it was revealed that they are the only two SC anchors to have par 4 holes-in-one.)
