Timbaland revels in Missy Elliott’s new single, reveals his ideal SportsCenter co-anchor

ESPN’s 2015-16 NBA regular-season game coverage continues with a Friday night doubleheader as the Miami Heat visit the Cleveland Cavaliers (7 p.m. ET) followed by the defending champion Golden State Warriors’ duel with the host Houston Rockets (9:30 p.m.).

The sounds of Virginia should be evident in the ESPN productions tonight: A snippet of multiplatinum rapper Missy Elliott’s new single “WTF (Where They From) featuring Pharell Williams” debuted this week as part of the network’s NBA presentations.

Elliott and Williams are friends and collaborators of music producer Timbaland, who has a galaxy of pop and hip-hop hits. His creative stamp is all over the theme music for the midnight SportsCenter with anchor Scott Van Pelt that will air following the Warriors-Rockets game.

In the video above, Timbaland talks about his affinity for Elliott and Williams’ music and the trio’s friendship, which began forming years ago in Virginia.

He also has an ideal co-anchor in mind should he ever be asked to sit behind the SportsCenter desk. Hint: This entertainer is very familiar to ESPN’s audience, especially fans of Mike & Mike.
