In January, ESPN Radio announced a new weekend lineup that debuted shows like The Trifecta and Will & Kate and featured fresh voices including Michelle Beadle, Ramona Shelburne, Mike Golic Jr. and Will Cain.

With the addition of new on-air hosts, weekend associate producer II Ali Bronson and program director II Louise Cornetta conjured an idea for listeners to get to know a little more about ESPN Radio’s hosts: Create a podcast and pair it with visuals on social media. The result of the experiment this Easter weekend: more than 45,000 Twitter impressions and numerous podcast downloads. It was a total team effort across show staffs.

“Ali came to me with the idea to do a ‘Meet the Weekend Hosts’ podcast after we launched several new shows this winter,” Cornetta said. “The entire weekend staff decided to run with it, gathering answers to the fun questions we had come up with to ask all our hosts. I decided to add childhood photos of all the talent after listening to Marty & McGee [co-hosts Marty Smith and Ryan McGee] talk about how they both had mullets as children. Adding the photos really helped drive the numbers over Easter weekend. As each show would go on the air, Ali would tweet out the link to the podcast along with their photos.”
