On Monday, FiveThirtyEight’s political team hosted a live taping of its FiveThirtyEight Elections podcast at the Playstation Theater in New York’s Times Square to an audience of more than 2,000 guests.

The show, which featured a panel moderated by producer and host Jody Avirgan, presented a discussion involving Editor-in-Chief Nate Silver, senior political writer Clare Malone, senior political writer and analyst Harry Enten and special guest, senior writer Farai Chideya.

Among other topics, they addressed the recent terror attacks in New York, New Jersey and Minnesota and the related reactions from presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Additionally, the team previewed next Monday’s presidential debate, hosted a quiz led by Avirgan and answered various questions from the audience.

“The live shows are a great way for us to meet our listeners and give them a chance to see the show in action,” said Avirgan. “Obviously we want to put on a great live show, but I also think people really like seeing how the podcast comes together – the re-takes, the screwups, the behind the scenes.”

The full episode is available on FiveThirtyEight. New episodes are published on the site every Monday, as well as on iTunes, the ESPN App and on several podcast platforms.

This is the fourth live taping of the podcast – previously, the team hosted events in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and San Francisco. An upcoming show will take place in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 7 followed by a second New York City-based show on Oct. 24. Tickets and additional information available here.
