ESPN Citizenship brings another sport court to Brazil

ESPN Brazil commentators Juliana Veiga and Gustavo Hofman joined nearly 400 residents of the São Remo community in São Paulo, Brazil on June 22 for the official opening of their new court space, Arena São Remo.

This global ESPN project was supported by sports development organizations love.fútbol, A Ganar and EPROCAD. The court will be home to ongoing sports events and programs for young people where they will learn job skills and be empowered to fulfill their potential.

“ESPN believes in the power of sports, which can help build communities and unite people like nothing else,” said General Manager, ESPN Brazil, German Hartenstein. “And we are committed to investing in communities like São Remo where we can make a difference.”

This is the second court space in Brazil that ESPN has helped build. The first was in Rio de Janeiro last year leading up to the Summer Olympic Games.

Jason White, Beyond Sport, produced the video.
