Week in review

Wednesday, the Los Angeles Kings seemed set on bringing its fans the franchise’s first Stanley Cup.

The Staples Center, a good neighbor of ESPN’s Los Angeles Production Center (LAPC), was teeming with Kings fans anticipating the completion of a four-game sweep of the visiting New Jersey Devils. The photos above — shot before Game 4 by the LAPC’s Gary Reynolds — capture the excitement.

But the Devils spoiled any NHL title celebration plans that night with a victory, setting up a Game 5 tonight in New Jersey. Scott Burnside looks at the Devils’ attitude heading into their second straight elimination game against the Kings.

Our Barry Melrose and Steve Levy (pictured in the gallery above) will have pre- and post-game thoughts from on-site throughout the weekend.
