Outlining ESPN’s added Penn State television news coverage plans

ESPN’s comprehensive coverage of Monday’s NCAA’s sanctions against Penn State University will continue tonight with an interview of three school officials and an Outside the Lines special, and with Tuesday‘s primetime Penn State: The Price of Scandal special featuring an interview with NCAA President Mark Emmert and two panel discussions.

Monday 7 p.m.: Outside the Lines special featuring an interview of Penn State President Rodney Erickson, Board of Trustees Chairman Karen Peetz, and acting AD David Joyner by reporter John Barr (portions of the interview will appear on the 6 p.m. SportsCenter). Guests will include ESPN reporters Joe Schad, Jemele Hill, and Cory Giger from ESPN 1450 State College. (Re-airs 8 p.m. on ESPNEWS)

Tuesday’s 8 p.m.: Outside the Lines Special — Penn State: The Price of Scandal features an interview with NCAA President Mark Emmert by host Bob Ley (portions of the late-afternoon interview in Bristol, Conn. will run on the 6 p.m. SportsCenter). Ley will moderate a pair of panel discussions among ESPN reporters Jeremy Schaap, Tom Rinaldi and Don Van Natta, who have covered the story throughout, and college football analysts Chris Fowler, Rece Davis and Rod Gilmore.

From Monday morning’s expanded live SportsCenter (began one-hour earlier at 8 a.m. ET) though tomorrow’s live Outside the Lines Special — Penn State: The Price of Scandal (8-9 p.m.), ESPN will have presented 37 hours of coverage of the NCAA’s sanctions against the school’s athletics program.

Already featured have been reports from Davis and Schad in Indianapolis, where Emmert announced the NCAA’s sanctions, and Kelly Naqi and Barr from the Penn State campus.

Among those contributing to the coverage have been: Jay Bilas, legal analyst Roger Cossack, and ESPN analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Matt Millen, Chris Mortensen and Lou Holtz.
