When the Super Bowl returns to New Orleans in 2013 for the first time in more than a decade, ESPN will be there — all week, in fact.

More than 120 hours of TV, radio and other content will originate from The Big Easy from Jan. 28-Feb. 3, 2013, and there will be no shortage of ESPN staffers there to cover every angle of the NFL’s biggest game.

But it’s not a matter of just showing up and going to work.

It takes many months of planning and preparing.

Today, ESPN announced the site of its production headquarters for Super Bowl week, which will be located in the heart of the historic French Quarter.

In the “Front & Center” podcast above, senior coordinating producer Seth Markman, who oversees ESPN’s NFL studio shows and annual Super Bowl coverage, discusses the planning process for New Orleans and the handful of trips he’s already taken over the past year. He describes the sets that will be built, the atmosphere fans can expect and why New Orleans is such an ideal Super Bowl host city.

This New Orleans Times-Picayune story has more on ESPN’s plans as well.
