Does Fan Central have a Facebook page? — Joe
OK, in the interest of full disclosure, I sent this question in myself so I can plug our brand new Facebook page. (EDITOR’S NOTE: We’ll allow it!!) Be sure to like it today at facebook.com/ESPNFanCentral.

Now, YOUR questions for real.

Why do Scott Van Pelt & Ryen Russillo have a Wisconsin football helmet sitting on their desk in front of their mics? I love it! Go Bucky! On, Wisconsin! — Neil

Neil sent this question on Jan. 16. As you see below, SVP did have a Wisconsin helmet on the desk that day. Why? According to SVP & Russillo (@SVPandRussillo) producer, Ray Necci, the man who chooses the helmet lineup each day, he wanted a white helmet on the desk and Madison (home of the University of Wisconsin) has always treated the show very well.

In total, there are currently 27 helmets used on SVP & Russillo. Some schools send helmets. Colgate was the first school to send one, while Cincinnati hand delivered one when then-head coach Butch Jones appeared on the show. And how about this: Ray’s alma mater, La Salle, made a helmet for the show even though the school’s football program was shut down almost 15 years ago!

As for the guys, they have some preferences. SVP always wants at least one Maryland helmet and Ryen is partial to Oregon and a special Wyoming helmet that was worn to recognize 9/11.

Don’t forget, you can listen to all your favorite ESPN radio programs, including SVP & Russillo, on the ESPN Radio website and via the ESPN Radio App.

I read that Minneapolis, MN is in contention of possibly being able to host the X Games starting in 2014. Is there a place to vote or help with this step because that would be an amazing place to have it!! Thank you. — David

David, you are correct. Minneapolis, Minn., is one of the cities being considered to host the Summer X Games in 2014 (see full list), but there is no fan voting as part of the decision process. While 2014 will be here before we know it, I’m sure most fans are enjoying X Games Aspen, which just started yesterday and runs through Sunday. The action gets going again today at 3 p.m. on ESPN, WatchESPN and ESPN 3D with the Men’s Ski Slopestyle Elimination and Snowboard Street Final events. If you haven’t done so yet, check out the X Games Aspen schedule, follow @XGames and check out amazing photos in the X Games Aspen photo stream in the right hand column of this page.
