Black History Month honors and acknowledges African-Americans’ contributions to world culture.

In the video above, members of ESPN’s P.U.L.S.E (People United to Lead, Serve and Excel) — one of the network’s eight Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) — share their thoughts on what Black History Month means to them.

P.U.L.S.E. boasts more than 200 members. Among its primary missions is “to recruit, mentor, promote and retain African-American employees across ESPN,” according to Tamika Jones, an ESPN associate business analyst and the ERG’s communication chair.

In the past, P.U.L.S.E. has been behind blood and bone marrow drives, recruiting efforts at National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Conventions, and forming ESPN’s Content of Character initiative to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.

Later this month, the organization will welcome pioneering NFL star and Super Bowl MVP, Doug Williams, as a speaker for an event on the Bristol campus.
