Every year since 1993, The ESPYS honors the major sports achievements of the past year. In doing so, the ESPN awards show presents memorable moments as well.

Consider: Jim Valvano’s giving an emotional “Don’t give up” speech at the very first ESPYS; Will Ferrell accepting the ESPY for Best Male Athlete on behalf of Tiger Woods; LeBron James performing Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative.”

In anticipation of The 2014 ESPYS presented by Capital One (Wednesday, July 16, 9 p.m. ET, ESPN), ESPN Images provides a sampling of ESPYS moments on and off stage.
