Meet a few members of ESPN Domestic’s FIFA World Cup production team

More than 300 ESPN staffers have been hard at work in Brazil for nearly a month now, helping to bring the 2014 FIFA World Cup to fans in the United States and other parts of the world. After today’s Argentina versus Netherlands semifinal (3 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN3), just two matches will remain, including Sunday’s much-anticipated final between Germany and today’s match winner.

As the crew enters the home stretch of this assignment, here are 11 key members of ESPN Domestic’s production staff who are working tirelessly to bring this event to your televisions and other devices. Chris Alexopoulos – Producer

Chris produces pre-game, halftime and post-game wraps for ESPN World Cup match telecasts.

Miranda Chattam – Coordinating Producer

Miranda oversees the production management team at ESPN’s Clube dos Marimbas host studios at Copacabana Beach and works with executive producer Jed Drake and coordinating producer Amy Rosenfeld on the daily production schedules, while also managing talent logistics.

Chris Riviezzo – Producer

Chris produces studio content around games as well as World Cup Tonight and the “Last Call” segment.

Joe Iuliano, Jr. – Associate Director

Joe assists the producer and director with timing elements within ESPN studio shows, while also ensuring the execution of all sales elements. He monitors the flow of inbound and outbound fiber feeds between ESPN’s Bristol, Conn. headquarters and the International Broadcast Center in Rio de Janeiro, in and out of the host set at Copacabana Beach. He communicates with ESPN Master Control in Bristol and ABC in New York on rolling commercial breaks and switching networks.

Lauren Barron – Stage Manager

On loan from Longhorn Network for World Cup, Lauren works on ESPN’s pre-game, halftime and post-match shows, as well as World Cup Tonight and the “Last Call” segment.

Gabriella Robuccio – Production Coordinator

After planning for this event the past two years, Gabby helps manage on-site production logistics, including managing talent schedules and facilitating production requests.

Lauren Vassallo – Associate Producer

A tape room/EVS producer, Lauren stacks the video that plays on ESPN programs that the EVS producers play out. There’s lots of video that rolls through the tape room.

Paul Carr – Senior Researcher, ESPN Stats and Information

Paul leads ESPN’s 20-person research team for World Cup and oversees the research website that provides historical information, statistics and other facts and figures for ESPN’s on-air commentators and production team company-wide.

Scott Favalora – Coordinating Director II

Scott has been involved in planning ESPN’s setup for the 2014 World Cup for two years. In Brazil, he’s focused on the presentation of ESPN’s studio coverage and leading the studio show unit.

Jacob works on World Cup Tonight, creating bumps and picking out the cool scenic shots that show off Rio de Janeiro.

Matt Harrington – Highlight Producer II

As the EVS producer in the control room, Matt produces the images that require quick turnaround for pre-game, halftime and post-game shows. He monitors all the feeds coming into the host set and informs the producer and director what video options they have. He has also been producing segments for air on British television and Fusion TV.
