Anthony Anderson on ESPN, Michael Wilbon and his ABC sitcom black-ish
Actor/comedian Anthony Anderson, star of the new ABC sitcom black-ish (Wednesdays, 9:30 p.m. ET), is as devoted a sports fan as he can be, given his schedule.
Besides playing the lead role of Andre Johnson in the sitcom about an African-American family coping with modern life, he’s an executive producer on the show. How does he keep up with the exploits of his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Lakers in particular?
ESPN programming, particularly SportsCenter and PTI, helps him play catch-up late at night and early in the morning, he said during his recent visit to ESPN’s Bristol, Conn. campus.
Anderson learned to his surprise that he was the topic of conversation briefly on PTI. Co-host Michael Wilbon gave Anderson and black-ish a shout-out at the conclusion of a recent show.
In the video above, Anderson discusses his friendship with Wilbon, his ESPN viewing habits, and his hopes for black-ish.
