ESPN SportsCenter anchor Steve Weissman and Outside the Lines producer Steve Vecchione (who was not able to attend) were recognized as part of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) 2014 Class of First 100 Plus. These men are working to improve the lives of domestic violence victims throughout Connecticut. The 4th Annual Breakfast & Awards Ceremony was held Friday at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.

ESPN was recognized with the Lawrence & Shirley Bostrom Pillars of Change Award.

“It’s such an honor to be included in this group of men that are raising awareness and fighting against domestic violence,” Weissman said. “We talk about statistics all the time at ESPN, but these are the most staggering I’ve come across: on average, nearly 20 people per minute are victims of physical violence by an intimate partner in the United States; one in three women have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. Because it’s an issue that for many has been kept silent and behind closed doors, I’m proud to be a part of the OTL team and use our national platform to inform the public about this devastating epidemic and hopefully lead to change.”
