ESPN’s award-winning evening at the 2015 SportsBusiness Journal Sports Business Awards

On Wednesday, May 20, leaders from across the industry gathered at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in New York City to honor the year’s best in sports business at the 2015 SportsBusiness Journal Sports Business Awards. In recognition of a tremendous year that included the 2014 FIFA World Cup, inaugural College Football Playoff, and launch of the SEC Network, ESPN took home all three media category trophies: Best in Digital Sports Media, Best in Sports Television and Best in Sports Media.

Accepting on behalf of the team was Digital and Print Executive Vice President John Kosner, Executive Vice President, Programming & Scheduling, Burke Magnus, and Executive Vice President, Programming and Production John Wildhack. In their acceptance speeches, each spoke highly of the culture at ESPN and its people.

The full list of winners can be found in today’s edition of SportsBusiness Daily Morning Buzz and On The Ground blog.

“It’s so meaningful for this award to happen this year, it’s crazy it’s already been 20 years,” Kosner said. “It just shows the commitment of company to mobile and digital that we’ve been able to continue to raise the quality of the products across the board.”

“The culture at ESPN is our greatest advantage,” said Magnus, quoting former ESPN president George Bodenheimer. He added, “To say that I’m surprised to be standing here and accepting this when seeing the competition is the understatement of the night.”
