ESPN’s newest college football studio crew

This season, Adnan Virk, Danny Kanell and Joey Galloway will be the ESPN college football studio crew on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays throughout the season. Virk, who was the college football studio host on ESPN2 previously, moves to ESPN. Kanell – who was a game and a ABC studio analyst last year – and Galloway – who was a game analyst – move permanently into the studio.

This season will be the first time the trio has worked together on a regular basis. ESPN’s college football full studio assignments are available here.

NEW YORK – The up-and-coming Tennessee Volunteers, the Ohio State Buckeyes’ dueling quarterback situation, the competitive and unpredictable Pac-12 South and Auburn’s potential rising star, quarterback Jeremy Johnson: These were the topics that sparked the most spirited discussion for ESPN’s newest college football studio crew Adnan Virk, Danny Kanell and Joey Galloway on Wednesday. The trio traveled throughout the Big Apple as part of a media tour to preview the upcoming season.

The day kicked off with ESPN’s Talent Planning & Development department meeting with Virk, Kanell and Galloway to go over the nuances of working together as a trio and really communicating with the viewer. Virk, Kanell and Galloway then visited Sports Illustrated for a spot on “SI Now” and a meeting with the magazine’s college football editors. From there, the itinerary included a stop at USA Today, a media lunch, an ABC and ESPN affiliate tour, and in-studio interviews on ESPN Radio New York 98.7 FM’s The Michael Kay Show.

As the sun began to set, Galloway headed to the airport, while Kanell and Virk trekked back to Connecticut. The next time the three are together will be a day college football fans have been waiting for since January: Thursday, Sept. 3, in Charlotte, N.C. for South Carolina versus North Carolina (ESPN, 6 p.m. ET).

College football, welcome back.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Next week, return to Front Row to go inside the trio’s meeting with Talent Planning & Development.
