Opening of the Dick Vitale Family Student Center

EDITOR’S NOTE: Last week, ESPN College Basketball Analyst Dick Vitale attended The Out-of-Door Academy’s new campus unveiling. Vitale addressed students and staff before the opening of the Dick Vitale Family Student Center and Dart STEM Center in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

Vitale writes for Front Row:

“Yesterday proved to be a thrilling day for me and my family. Through the vision and leadership of Out-of-Door Academy’s Headmaster, David Mahler, our family was able to make a gift to help students embrace the academic environments they will experience in the future on college campuses.”

“I love giving back and this was a very special way for me and my family to give back to a place that has been very special to us. Out-of-Door Academy does a tremendous job in preparing students for the challenges that are ahead in the collegiate learning environment.”

“Nothing inspires me more than helping others to pursue their dreams and the Vitale Student Center will hopefully provide many talented students to pursue and achieve their academic goals. It was truly a great day and we are feeling very blessed to give back to our local community in such a special and meaningful way.”

“This state of the art facility will offer students many collaborative study and work spaces – complete with the latest in educational technology and tools. There will also be social spaces for students to enjoy while remaining on campus to finish their studies or to work on group-based projects.”
