Veterans Day coverage at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs

Those who began work at 5 a.m. MT on today’s live Colorado Springs, Colo., coverage of ESPN’s week-long Veterans Day activation were greeted with a winter storm as these photos illustrate. The SportsCenter day-long telecast from the U.S. Air Force Academy is a highlight of a week of programming and other initiatives across platforms as ESPN recognizes Veterans Day with the company’s seventh annual America’s Heroes salute.

SportsCenter segments from the Air Force Academy are being anchored by Hannah Storm and Kevin Negandhi, airing from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. ET, with additional segments to air in the 6 p.m. and evening editions.

“It’s been a wardrobe challenge for sure. We’ve experienced very warm temps in the satellite lab – to a beautiful sunny day at the airstrip. To frigid, windy, snowy conditions early this morning. But all of it has been so much fun and such an honor. The weather has been a side note as far as we’re concerned.”– Hannah Storm

Hannah: “Want to give a big shout out to one of our favorite people on the planet, Bryan Metzger, stage manager who served in Iraq as a member of the Marine Corps.”

Kevin: “Did a couple of tours of duty there, and it’s great to have him as a part of our team. He is the best in the business.”

Bryan:““It is truly and honor and a privilege to work for a company that supports veterans. Thank you Hannah, Kevin, Rob (Director Bentley), Michael (Sr. Coordinating Producer Fountain), Mark (Producer Eiseman) and Jim (Coordinating Producer Bowdon) for making this Veterans Day personally special with an on-cam shout out.”
