The third annual ESPN Sport Science Newton Awards, hosted by John Brenkus, will air Sunday, Feb. 14, at 11 p.m. on ESPN2. For this year’s show, the Sport Science team converted a luxury cruiser into a TV studio, traveled around the country and taped segments with athletes including Kevin Durant, Alex Ovechkin, Jose Bautista, Klay Thompson, Michelle Wie, Jameis Winston, Le’Veon Bell, and Jarvis Landry.

The Newton Awards recognizes the top moments in sports from a scientific perspective. While most awards shows are based on a voting process, the Newton Awards are judged on unprecedented scientific analysis of thousands of athletic performances from the world of sports during 2015.

Categories include “Best Geometry,” “Most Improbable,” “Best Flight,” “Best Vector,” “Best Catch,” “Projectile Launch,” “Best Power Output” and “Outstanding New Limit,” among others. Category nominees, drawn from across the world of sports, include Aaron Rodgers, Mike Trout, Jake Arrieta, Michigan State Football, US Women’s National soccer team, American Pharoah, Jordan Spieth, and the UConn Women’s Basketball team.
