Seems like old times: Berman welcomes Jackson back for tonight’s Countdown

Tom Jackson retired from ESPN in August but will be back tonight as Chris Berman’s special guest on Monday Night Countdown (6 p.m. ET, ESPN) before the Carolina Panthers-Washington Redskins Monday Night Football game.

All season, Berman has welcomed an NFL legend each week on Countdown to talk football and share stories. Guests have included Super Bowl champions, Hall of Famers and other star players and coaches (gallery below), including Mike Ditka, Tony Dorsett, Michael Irvin, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Joe Namath, Mike Shanahan, Bruce Smith, Joe Theismann, Dick Vermeil and Doug Williams. Jim Plunkett and Tedy Bruschi also visited with Berman on the road at MNF games.

Tonight’s visit will be particularly meaningful. Berman and Jackson partnered together for an unprecedented 29 years on ESPN’s NFL studio shows – Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown and NFL Primetime (1987-2005). The duo last appeared together when Jackson made his heartfelt farewell at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony this summer.

In the video above, Berman previews Jackson’s visit and talks about his longtime friend and colleague.
