DeAndre Ayton, the No. 1 overall recruit in the ESPN 100, visited ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., on Friday. The 7-foot center from Phoenix, Ariz., is expected to make an immediate splash next season when he joins the Arizona Wildcats.

Ayton is in New England as part of the GEICO ESPN High School Basketball Showcase, where he and his Hillcrest Academy (Ariz.) teammates will face Westtown High School on Saturday (ESPN, 8 p.m. ET) during the Spalding Hoophall Classic in nearby Springfield, Mass.

Ayton took a tour of ESPN’s campus, sat down with Hannah Storm during SportsCenter, and also spoke with college basketball analysts Seth Greenberg and Andy Katz.

Ayton is also a nominee for the McDonald’s All-American Game. Selections will be announced during the McDonald’s All-American Game Selection Show this Sunday (ESPNU, 10:30 p.m.), hosted by Matt Schick with ESPN national recruiting director Paul Biancardi and reporter Jeff Goodman.
