As announced today, Adam Amin has signed a multiyear extension, maintaining his on-the-go lifestyle as a play-by-play commentator for ESPN. Now in his seventh year with the company, the Chicago native has called a variety of college sports — including basketball, football, softball, volleyball and wrestling, as well as MLB, NBA and NFL games.
With a front row seat to so many exciting sports events on the calendar, here are some of Amin’s most memorable assignments:
- Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas scored 53 points versus the Washington Wizards in Game 2 of the 2017 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals.
- Homers Telecast on ESPN2, as part of the Megacast of the College Football Playoff Championship Game, featuring Clemson and Alabama.
- Lamar Jackson’s breakout performance when the eventual-Heisman winner scored five touchdowns for Louisville against Syracuse in 2016.
- Chicago Cubs star Willson Contreras’ first MLB swing, a home run against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
- Ohio State’s Kyle Snyder defeated N.C. State’s Nick Gwiazdowski for the 2016 NCAA Wrestling heavyweight title.
- LSU’s Chris Sciambra hit a walk-off home run against Louisiana in Game 1 of the 2015 NCAA Baseball Super Regionals.
- Game 6 of the 2016 NCAA Softball Regionals when Louisiana defeated Texas A&M in nine innings.
- Last season’s Dallas Cowboys win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, thanks to two late touchdowns by Ezekiel Elliott.
Despite Amin’s constant grind, he proves day-in and day-out that you can work hard and play hard, too.

He even had the chance to work alongside two legendary broadcasters during the inaugural Tournament Challenge Marathon — Brent Musburger and Dick Vitale.
Then there was his awkward Uber ride when the driver insulted his Friday night college football booth partner Mack Brown, unknowingly, to his face. Amin gets five stars for letting the world in on the fun by tweeting about the mishap.
