Hartford Yard Goats stage “Mikey C Day” for ESPN Radio PA

Promotions manager Dana Feigenbaum introduces ESPN Radio’s contingent to the Hartford Yard Goats’ home crowd.

Mike “Mikey C” Costantinou is a production assistant at ESPN Radio and frequently is heard on Weekend Observations (Sundays, 7–9 a.m.), hosted by Mike Golic Jr. and Jon “Stugotz” Weiner.

Known for his “Smoke Break” segments on the show, during which he interviews a notable ESPN voice while out on his smoke break, Costantinou expressed during a May episode of Weekend Observations that his birthday wish was to throw out the first pitch at a Yard Goats game. The idle wish came to fruition when Weekend Observations welcomed Yard Goats’ promotions manager Dana Feigenbaum to the show. She confirmed the plans for “Mikey C Day,” which took place yesterday, June 28.

With a group of ESPN Radio staffers in attendance at Dunkin’ Donuts Park, along with the Golic family including Golic Sr. and Golic Jr., Mikey C threw out the first pitch. He also competed in the “Build-A-Burger” challenge and sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch.

“Mikey C Day was an amazing night,” Costantinou said. “The Hartford Yard Goats totally made a dream of mine come true allowing me to throw out the first pitch at their ballpark.

“Most people are happy with 15 minutes of fame, but thanks to Mike Golic Jr & Stugotz, I had an entire night of signing autographs and people chanting my name, which totally felt surreal! I can’t thank my ESPN friends and colleagues enough for coming out and showing support.

“It will definitely be a night I will never forget! And most importantly … I didn’t bounce it.”

The Hartford Yard Goats provided the video and photos.
