It Takes A Team Of Thousands: ESPN’s Holiday Credits Roll

ESPN recognizes the individuals who have contributed to the company’s success through a year-end credit roll that follows SportsCenter

Each year, ESPN recognizes the individuals who have contributed to the company’s success through a year-end credit roll that follows SportsCenter. The tradition began many years ago as a public acknowledgement of all the dedicated employees in front of the cameras and behind the scenes. What used to take under a minute to display now lasts 30 minutes.

This year’s credit roll debuted on air at the end of the 2 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter on Sunday, Dec. 23, on the show that aired after the SoFi Hawai’i Bowl.

After the thousands of names scrolled, special homage was paid to current and former ESPN colleagues lost in 2018.

As has been the tradition, the roll features a continual stream of “This is SportsCenter” commercials. Also returning this year: the background scene that includes some on-air talent in various, animated holiday scenes.
