SportsCenter anchor Matt Barrie returns to host the Scripps National Spelling Bee, with coverage beginning today on ESPN platforms.
In the video above, Barrie agreed to challenge his spelling skills against last year’s fan answers from the Play Along channel.
The multiple choice Play Along channel offers fans a one-in-four chance to pick the correct spelling of the given word, allowing fans to compete along with the spellers by interacting online at www.spellingbee.com/playalong.
Catch this year’s Spelling Bee coverage on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and the ESPN App starting today through Thursday.
ESPN3 has exclusive coverage of the preliminary rounds on the ESPN App. Live coverage of the Finals will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. on ESPN2 and conclude starting at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Jon McLeod, Shelby L. Lacy and Belen Michelis produced the video.
So excited and honored to be hosting the @ScrippsBee 🐝 again this year with @P356Loeffler! A record 565 spellers are in the competition, as well as some returning stars from last year. See you in D.C.
