“Bringing the full remote booth experience to the safety of the home has been our goal since March. All of the production resources ESPN talent would have on the road are provided, in real time, to their home. We continue to serve the fan with the highest degree of commitment and accuracy utilizing the latest in 'Live From Home' (LFH) technology”.
- Chris Calcinari, SVP, ESPN & ABC Sports Remote Production Operations
The laptop provides Breen with three separate camera angles from the arena to aid in capturing things he might normally see from courtside.
Breen’s Long Island basement has been outfitted with a technologically-advanced remote camera and a lighting kit packaged together back in ESPN’s Bristol HQs’ North Campus location and distributed across the nation to commentators.
The audio box allows Breen to talk with all the key production people and, of course, his game partner(s).
Breen’s trusty tablet has in-sync stats and he has a constant line to ESPN’s Stats & Info group for pertinent in-game trends and notes of interest.
Breen’s (mostly) handwritten notes for the game occupy two piles on his table. They include: game prep nuggets, notes from ESPN’s research team, key pregame info from Zoom coaches’ interviews and reminders of key points he wants to emphasize during the game.
