Barry Rahmy

Barry Rahmy

I started at ESPN on July 21, 1980, when real cows still grazed where a Big Box store is now. I was the fifth person hired in the electronic graphics department and unlike those cows I’ve never strayed, moving from on-air graphics operator to graphic designer to executive management. My current responsibilities in the Creative Services department include recruiting and hiring, hardware and software, performance feedback and metrics, and general navel-gazing. I’ve been called “Switzerland,” “Internal Affairs,” and everything in between by my peers, though I’m neither neutral nor menacing (I think). In addition to my real job, I’ve long participated in activities meant to foment community at ESPN, including employee events like art shows, film screenings, and multicultural fairs. I vote for losers in elections and root for the Seattle Mariners. I’m an avid cyclist who still harbors hope of becoming the oldest domestique in Tour de France history.
