I started at ESPN in 1998 when I transferred from ABC in New York. I am responsible for safety, risk management, emergency response, environmental compliance, and sustainability; disciplines that require a great deal of cooperation and assistance from employees outside my department. When I started I was surprised at the camaraderie and passion of the workforce at ESPN. It is infectious and you can feel it when you walk on the campus in Bristol. Everyone wants to make ESPN the best it can be, in every facet of our operations. So when I ask for cooperation or assistance, I get it, not with a moan and groan, but with a smile. We have accomplished so much since I started – achieving a waste diversion rate of almost 70%, building an emergency response program that would be the envy of FEMA, spearheading the formation of a safety working group among the sports television producers, . . . . and that is just the beginning!
