It took a little more than 20 years, but Mack Brown and Danny Kanell will be on the same team after all. The college football analysts will pair up for ABC’s Saturday studio coverage with host John Saunders, providing analysis on College Football Countdown (3 p.m. ET) and during pre-game, halftime and post-game segments of ABC game telecasts, including the popular Saturday Night Football series.
Their history dates back to the early 1990s when Brown, then head coach at North Carolina, recruited Kanell to be the quarterback for his Tar Heels. Kanell ultimately chose Florida State, where he compiled a 21-3-1 record as the Seminoles’ starter and defeated Brown’s team each time he faced them.
Front Row recently talked with Brown (who turns 63 today) and Kanell about their memories of the recruiting process and working together as ESPN analysts in their post-playing and coaching careers.
