Top college basketball coaches visit Andy Katz for special summer edition of Katz Korner

ESPNU’s weekly college basketball show, Katz Korner, makes a special summertime cameo (tonight, 8:30-10 p.m. ET) on ESPNU. Host Andy Katz spent an afternoon catching up with some of the nation’s top head coaches as they descended on South Carolina for the NIKE Peach Jam.

The NIKE Peach Jam is an elite high school basketball event featuring the nation’s top recruits. This year, 12 of the top 20 players on the ESPN 100 will compete including No. 1 Ivan Rabb, No. 2 Ben Simmons (LSU commit) and No. 3 Malik Newman. Some of the NBA’s most recognizable names have competed in the NIKE Peach Jam including Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Dwyane Wade. Watch the semfinals (9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.) and finals (3 p.m.) Sunday, July 20, on ESPNU.

“It is a great time of year to catch-up with these coaches,” explains Katz. “Enough time has passed from the previous season and there are still many weeks until next season really kicks into gear. It allows me to have a conversation with them when they are feeling less stressed and without them being in the daily grind of the season.”

This is the ninth year Katz and the ESPNU’s Charlotte production team have filmed summer editions of Katz Korner. This year, Katz slides right into the familiar role after completing a two month-long assignment of hosting Outside the Lines while Bob Ley was in the Brazil covering the World Cup.

“Hosting OTL is a privilege,” Katz said. “The brand is our strongest journalism and getting the chance to introduce pieces and engage, challenge and push conversations on a wide-range of topics is invigorating.”
