100 days out: ESPN and ESPN Deportes kicks off Pan American Games coverage
With exactly 100 days until the start of the 2015 Pan American Games, ESPN Deportes today visited the Athlete Village in Toronto to initiate the network’s coverage. Andres Agulla, who will also serve as one of the hosts during the network’s coverage of this summer’s Games, is presenting live reports from Toronto while setting the stage to debut a lineup of programming and special content across all ESPN and ESPN Deportes’ platforms.
“It is exciting to see how Toronto is starting to experience the Games in this celebration today,” Agulla said. “The Athlete Village is ready, the facilities are all finished, and people around the city are committed to collaborating to make this a great event for all visitors and locals. The Toronto Committee is thrilled with all the exciting build up and everyone is looking forward to the next 100 days and the anticipated kickoff.”
The ESPN and ESPN Deportes production, digital, marketing and promotions teams started working on the Pan American efforts a few months ago, traveling to Toronto and many of the participating countries to begin capturing the stories behind the Games and its stars. Starting today, ESPN will showcase the countdown with comprehensive content across all platforms in both English and Spanish.
Maria Soares, coordinating producer for ESPN Deportes and ESPN International, has been spearheading these efforts.
“The next 100 day lead up is going to be a very exciting time for us,” Soares said. “This is our chance to get our fans engaged with the games, to generate more awareness about the event and to create a real build-up for the best two weeks of sports this year!”
