Monstrous Task: What’s It Like Being A Yankee Playing At Fenway?

Countdown's Mark Teixeira cherishs the challenge, previews Yankees at Red Sox on Sunday Night Baseball

As the second half of the MLB season continues, one of the biggest rivalries in sports is heating up again. This Sunday (Aug. 5), the American League East-leading Boston Red Sox host the second place New York Yankees on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, from historic Fenway Park at 8 p.m. ET.

Veteran host Karl Ravech will lead into the game on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown pre-game show with analysts and World Series Champions, former Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira and Red Sox catcher David Ross, from the field at 7 p.m.

During his career as a Yankee, Teixeira hit six home runs in his SNB appearances. Five of those were against the Red Sox and one was at Fenway Park (May 3, 2015). In the video above, Teixeira shares his memories of what it’s like to play at the iconic stadium.

ESPN MLB production and Shelby Lacy produced the video. ESPN Images provided the photos.
ESPN baseball researcher Sarah Langs provided the statistics on Mark Teixeira.
