First And Goal: ESPN, ABC Will Carry XFL Games In 2020

ESPN EVP Programming and Scheduling, Burke Magnus, discusses agreement with new league

ESPN’s year-round commitment to football has never been stronger. In addition to extensive coverage of the National Football League and college football, ESPN carries Canadian Football League (CFL) and Arena Football League (AFL) games – and soon the XFL.

This morning, Vince McMahon and the WWE announced new media rights agreements with both ESPN and FOX Sports.

Beginning in February 2020, ESPN and ABC will carry weekly XFL games when the new spring football league debuts. The overall ESPN/ABC schedule features a combined 22 games during the inaugural season, including the kickoff and Championship games.

In the video above, ESPN Executive Vice President, Programming and Scheduling, Burke Magnus, discusses the XFL agreement and how fans can look forward to a consistent schedule of games each week across both broadcast and cable networks.
