May 17 is World Baking Day, and ESPN has a resident baker in Christine Lisi. The ESPN Radio host and SportsCenter anchor is known for crafting specialized treats for each sports season. In honor of the NBA Playoffs and Stanley Cup Playoffs, Lisi put her baking skills to good use with her latest creations: NHL Playoff Brownie Pucks and NBA Playoff Mini Basketballs. (See recipes below.)
“I have always loved baking. I started when I was little with my grandmothers and my mom,” Lisi said. “Great memories of happy times and I love to bake for work friends because it makes them happy and that warms my heart.”
“My favorite of all the sports postseasons is the NHL,” Lisi added. “The level of excitement in the arenas and adrenaline from the crowds, plus the stress of overtime, cannot be beaten. l love football, but playoff hockey is another animal.”
Next, with the NBA Playoffs in full swing on ESPN, “I thought I would try to make some basketball cutout cookies. The chocolate cookies, buttercream frosting, and chocolate stripes all taste great.”
Hear more from Lisi on ESPN Radio Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. ET and Thursday & Friday from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. ET. Also, for more of Lisi’s recipes, you can find them on her personalized blog.
