Booker T and Brad Gilmore: Ready for The Biggest Party of the Summer on ESPN Radio

This Saturday, it’s “The Biggest Party of the Summer” for the WWE, so what better way to celebrate than with two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T and Brad Gilmore on the Hall of Fame radio show on ESPN Radio? Booker and Gilmore began working together on the air in 2015, with their relationship dating back nearly fifteen years when Gilmore joined Booker’s wrestling school.

Both Booker and Gilmore are passionate about covering the art of professional wrestling, and their show can now be heard nationally on ESPN Radio around major WWE and UFC events throughout the year. Ahead of their big three-hour show on Saturday night, Booker took part in a Q&A.

How do you prepare for the three-hour show covering an event like SummerSlam?

Oh, man. It’s a lot of prep work. The show is going to be live on ESPN Radio nationally on Saturday night for three hours. I’m trying to find as many guests as possible to get on the show, to get a good feel for what’s going on with today’s wrestlers and how they think. Additionally, I try to get a sense of the past by having a couple of old-school guys call in to share their experiences at SummerSlam. So, there’s a lot of prep work and notetaking involved. But as I always say, preparation is the only luck you’re ever going to have. So, I prepare diligently.

When you're deciding who you want in the wrestling world to call in, how do you decide, "All right. This is a person that can really add some good insight here."?

Of course, you think about someone like Kurt Angle, a guy who’s been there and performed at a very high level. I also reached out to my buddy Kevin Nash, who’s achieved great things in the industry as well. It’s always about merging the past and the future to keep this thing going. While we’ve lost many competitors I wish I could call, we’ll still gain valuable insight from some of our legends.

How has your relationship and friendship with Brad Gilmore helped you in terms of the show?

I couldn’t do the show without Brad. He is the anchor, the oar that keeps me in the water. But he’s a young guy. It’s a heck of a dynamic. I thank Brad at the end of every show for all the heavy lifting because he does everything to make me look good. Brad is the true star of the Hall of Fame.

What can fans expect from Hall of Fame on ESPN Radio this Saturday night?

They can expect a lot of excitement and fun. That’s what the *Hall of Fame* is truly all about—engaging with the fans. We have a saying in the Hall of Fame, and it’s not a cliché: ‘It’s all about the people.’ Fans will have the chance to call in and interact with Brad and me, as well as with our guests. It’s going to be an all-inclusive, fantastic night on Saturday.
