Tweetback: How ESPN reacted to news of David Letterman’s retirement
From the people who have had the honor of appearing on-set with David Letterman like Mike Greenberg, Mike Golic, Scott Van Pelt and Jon Gruden to the ones whose lives and careers he’s impacted, the ESPN family was particularly moved by Letterman’s announced 2015 retirement.
Also in tribute to the comedic legend, SportsCenter is airing “A Dedication to Dave” throughout the day.
Here, Front Row gathers some of the social comments from ESPNers as they salute the King of Late Night and throws in some other intersections between the network and Letterman:
Being a guest on David Letterman was and remains one of the great thrills of my career. Can't express how much I revere the guy. An icon.

Letterman news had me nostalgic. Among the thoughts: his monologue post 9/11 is eloquence and grace personified. What a giant he's been.

First job in TV was as a page at NBC…worked on @Letterman show seating the audience. Still the most fun I've had in the biz. #Daveislegend

Biggest question coming from #Letterman retirement: who will secure the services of @BillScheft?

If you're someone around my age, #DavidLetterman was (is) a broadcasting and comedic icon.
