A “Fitting” transition: College GameDay salutes longtime producer

Most television producers aren’t household names, but ESPN College GameDay producer Lee Fitting has emerged from the production truck as a fan favorite.

For 12 years, he has been the lead producer on college football’s longest-running and most-celebrated pregame show. From his picture on signs in the crowd each Saturday to fans lobbying him on Twitter for a visit to their school, Fitting’s popularity has risen as the show has continued to prosper under his creative guidance.

Fitting will step aside from the six-time Emmy Award winning show after producing Week One from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., this Saturday. Fitting will continue to be a part of the College GameDay world as he will take on more responsibility overseeing all college football and basketball studio and remote production.

Have no fear GameDay fans, everything else is staying the same, and the show is moving into the capable hands of Jim Gaiero, a longtime producer at ESPN.
