On The Car Wash: Seth Meyers

Saturday Night Live comedian Seth Meyers will be the host of the 19th annual ESPYs for the second consecutive year.

On June 28, Seth stopped by the Bristol campus for the Car Wash to get his feet wet before he hit the stage in Los Angeles.

I asked Seth if he got nervous before interviews, performances, etc.

Seth said, “Yes I still do. I think that’s what makes you good.”

After a busy morning with five interviews and an ESPY meeting we headed to a Newsmaker Luncheon. These are arranged for the employees to meet an in-house guest on a more personal level.  They get to hear about the guests’ experiences before participating in a Q & A session.

Given that this was the second time Seth had been to ESPN, we decided to invite more employees to the luncheon.

Seth was excited to have a tent set up to accommodate the crowd for him this year. I told him every year ESPN does it bigger and better.

Throughout the day there were several questions asked about the 2010 ESPYs and The Decision program, which featured LeBron James’ free-agency announcement. The Decision aired just a few days before the 2010 ESPYS, and that caused several changes and late nights but it made for an entertaining program.

What is in store for this year?

Seth said, “the odds of hearing a Kardashian joke are good, and since the Mavericks won the [NBA] Championship we don’t have to worry about them being in the audience!”

The ESPYs air tonight on ESPN beginning at 9 p.m. ET. For more information, click here.
