College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will head to Columbia, S.C., site of next Saturday’s SEC matchup of No. 5 Georgia at No. 6 South Carolina (7 p.m. ET, ESPN). College GameDay, in its 26th year, will be making its fifth all-time visit to the Gamecock’s campus, the most recent being October 9, 2010 when then-No. 19 South Carolina toppled then-No. 1 Alabama 35-21.

The horseshoe is one of the best sites we’ve ever had for College GameDay,” said Lee Fitting, College GameDay Sr. Coordinating Producer. “The picturesque collegiate backdrop creates the perfect setting for the show. Given the fact that a highly-ranked Georgia team is coming to town, it will only add to the excitement of Saturday morning.”

GameDay’s first two visits to Columbia were when current ESPN analyst Lou Holtz held the head coaching reigns for South Carolina. In fact, the only time Lee Corso picked South Carolina with his famous headgear selection (9/11/04 vs. Georgia) — he pegged Holtz as a game changer. South Carolina went on to fall to the Bulldogs, 20-16.

College GameDay will air live at 9 a.m. ET on ESPNU and 10 a.m. on ESPN with host Chris Fowler, analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack, and host/reporter Samantha Steele and Tom Rinaldi.

Past results from GameDay visits to Columbia:
10/09/10 – (19) South Carolina def. (1) Alabama, 35-21
10/28/06 – (8) Tennessee def. South Carolina, 31-24
09/11/04 – (3) Georgia def. South Carolina, 20-16
11/10/01 – (3) Florida def. (15) South Carolina, 54-17

NOTE: Corso is 2-2 with his headgear picks in Columbia, with correct predictions in 2001 and 2006.
