Fan Central Mailbag: Where’s DLHQ and does Jon Gruden Tweet?

Dan Le Batard is Highly Questionable returns next week (Joe Faraoni/ESPN)

When we launched Fan Central, we told you we are here to be the fans’ answer source, sounding board and ESPN encyclopedia. As part of our fan service offerings, the Fan Central Mailbag provides answers to the questions you’ve submitted to us either on Twitter or via e-mail. Here’s our first edition:

How do you choose the anchors for the “This is SportsCenter” commercials? – Emily, Pennsylvania
Coordinating producers see which anchors are available at the times commercials are scheduled to be filmed. From there, anchors are chosen for spots that will best showcase their individual personalities. The latest spot featuring John Clayton, which debuted on-line yesterday, is already being mentioned with some of the all-timers.

Do you have a favorite “This is SportsCenter” commercial? Tweet your replies using #favSCspot.

I love Jon Gruden’s QB Camp. Is he on Twitter? – Karen, NA
While there are Twitter accounts that claim to be Jon Gruden, we can report that Coach Gruden is NOT on Twitter. When would he have time with all that film work? In fact, right now he’s likely prepping for our Bengals-Ravens Monday Night Football opener (Monday, 7 p.m.). By the way, while Coach Gruden is not on Twitter, you can follow MNF all season long @ESPNMondayNight.

Why doesn’t Brad Gilbert have to wear a tie during U.S. Open coverage? – Jack, New York
Jack, we’ll let Brad tell you himself:

When does Dan Le Batard Is Highly Questionable return?
Good news, after some time off, Dan Le Batard is Highly Questionable returns this Monday (4:30 p.m. on ESPN2). For those who can’t wait until then check out the DLHQ YouTube channel.

How do certain ESPN programs use Facebook and Twitter to reach out to fans and allow them to interact with the show? – Zachary, WI
As you may have noticed, more and more ESPN programs are utilizing social media to interact with fans. SportsCenter uses Twitter and the #SCTop10 hashtag to gather nominations for certain night’s top plays. SportsNation, of course, was an early adopter in using social media to interact with fans.

The new kids on the block over at UNITE have really embraced social media fan interactions. Check them out Monday through Friday at midnight on ESPNU.

What campuses will College GameDay visit this season? – Brittney, Florida
Lots of fans ask this question, but College GameDay sites are selected on a week-by-week basis so a schedule is not available. You can visit the College GameDay Facebook page or follow GameDay on Twitter to stay up to date.

(The college basketball GameDay sites for 2013 were announced earlier this summer.)

You also can visit Front Row on Saturday nights to get more info on where GameDay will be the next week. This week the crew will be in College Station for Florida vs. Texas A&M (9 a.m. on ESPNU and 10 a.m. on ESPN). The Gators and Aggies play at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN.
