Gruden’s QB Camp: Breaking down country music star Kenny Chesney

University of Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray visits Jon Gruden’s QB Camp today in Tampa.

Bray is the 12th and final player in the 2013 QB Camp class to descend upon Gruden’s Fired Football Coaches Association office this spring, but he’s not the only member of Vols Nation to visit the Super Bowl-winning coach.

Country music star Kenny Chesney, a Knoxville native and longtime UT football fan, wanted to experience QB Camp for himself, so he dropped by to see Gruden a few weeks ago while in town to kick off his No Shoes Nation Tour.

As the video above shows, Gruden put him through the paces, just like he does the players.

“I’ve gotten to know Kenny through the years and I’m a big fan,” said Gruden. “He’s a great guy and he loves football. He wanted to be part of QB Camp and he wanted to be grilled, so we had some fun with it.”

While in Tampa, Chesney also asked Gruden to give his concert crew a pep talk as they set out on their new tour.

“Kenny gave me a chance to say a few words, and it was an honor,” said Gruden. “I really respect the work that group does – running the machines, the cameras, lights – it’s a lot like our Monday Night Football crew that’s on the road traveling week after week.”

Note: Gruden’s QB Camp begins in earnest this week with the debut of new shows highlighting two of the top quarterbacks in the 2013 NFL Draft class: West Virginia’s Geno Smith (Thursday, April 4, at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2) and USC’s Matt Barkley (Saturday, April 6, at 11 p.m. on ESPN2).
