Mad Men star Jon Hamm set to host The 2013 ESPYS on July 17

NEW YORK — Jon Hamm, who stars as Don Draper on AMC’s award-winning series Mad Men, will host The 2013 ESPYS.

Hamm made the announcement during his appearance this morning on LIVE with Kelly and Michael.

Hamm, who grew up in St. Louis, Mo., is a Cardinals and Blues fan. He also follows the NFL.

Hamm told ESPN that he’s looking forward to being the ESPYS host because he was “a marginally successful high school athlete” so he believes his “skill set jibes well with a host’s duties.”

“We’re always focused on having The ESPYS represent the voice of the fan,” ESPYS Executive Producer Maura Mandt said. “We chose Jon to host this year’s show because we know his passion for sports, combined with his sharp wit and creativity, will set a tone for the show that will really resonate with our viewers.”

The 2013 ESPYS will be televised live Wednesday, July 17, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPNHD from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.

Tickets to The 2013 ESPYS will be available for sports fans to purchase at beginning in late May.
