ESPN employees recently participated in the celebration of Diwali – the Indian Festival of Lights – on the company’s Bristol, Conn. campus. The Asian Business Leaders of ESPN (or ABLE), an ESPN Employee Resource Group, played host to the celebration Oct. 24.
Diwali signifies the victory of good over evil and the removing of spiritual darkness. Festivities included candle-lighting featuring Indian classical music, dance performances and traditional food. ABLE has hosted a Diwali festival, illustrated in the video above, at ESPN for nine years.
“I’m honored to be a part of this,” SportsCenter anchor Kevin Negandhi said. “It’s pretty cool to showcase what Diwali is all about. Diwali is the celebration of the new year.”
